EMA-Ethics

With increasing globalisation, economic cooperation invariably implies the necessity of cross-cultural competences between the trade partners. We focus on communication and mutual understanding, giving strong support to partners in the Euro-Mediterranean region and the other Arabic countries.

We are ideologically and denominationally independent, considering ourselves to be a mediator between the cultures. Therefore, we discourage the view of a clash of cultures by promoting instead the collaboration of Arab and European cultural areas and supporting a mutual enrichment of cultural variety.

The economy, ecology, and the social responsibilities, seen as interconnecting elements, are the determining factors upon which we want to build. Sustainability is for us of a special significance, meaning that we want to build up something permanent and for the long term.

Competition as an economic variable is useful, in that it provides motivation for high performance, but it should not lead us to deprive each other of our fundamental livelihoods.

It is not an end in itself but offers future prospects only in terms of mutual enrichment.

We regard wealth, environmental standards of high quality and social capital as connecting values by which we can build up a mutual cultural understanding. The further development of democratic ideas and a broader awareness and tolerance should support cooperation and open dialogue, and in doing so respect and embrace the variety of views.

We recognize finding the right balance as our particular challenge. Our vision is to develop and support the Euro-Mediterranean partnership.
