Dr. Abdelmajid Layadi, born in 1975, grew up in Morocco. He began his studies at the Mohammed V. University in Rabat. At the end of 1996 he moved to Hamburg, where he inscribed to a diploma course at the Hamburg University for Economy and Politics (HWP) with a combination of economics and business studies, sociology and law. He graduated after three years and supplemented his studies with a postgraduate course in social economy with the main focus on “International Relations, Development Policy and Development Management.
His graduation paper deals with the Inter-Arabian cooperation concerning the economic section and the economic relations of the EU and the Arabian countries. In this way his work reflects his interest in the development processes in the Euro-Mediterranean region and which has been his major point since he started his studies. His dissertation was released in the renowned social- and economical Nomos publishing, after his researches in the Arabian Mediterranean area and interviews of numerous experts and renowned personalities of Politics and Economy in 2005/2006.
His current project is the establishment of the Euro-Mediterranean Association for Cooperation and Development (EMA), which is aiming at the furtherance of the Arabian-European Economic relations. Therefore, Dr.Layadi initiated the Arabian-German Water Forum and the Arabian-German Investment Congress which both took place in 2010 for the first time and are planned annually for the following years in Hamburg.
